MATTHEW SCHAEFER is an award-winning writer & producer who grew up in the Finger Lakes region of New York, in a house that was once a stop on the historic underground railroad. There were hidden spaces beneath the staircases, secret doors at the backs of closets, and plenty of tales to go with them that would become the foundation for a love of storytelling.

With over twenty years of experience as a showrunner, writer, and producer, he enjoys both directing in the field as well as spending time in the edit bay to capture and shape diverse stories, be it on build shows like Maine Cabin Masters and Building Off The Grid or food and travel shows like Family Dinner, Life of Fire, and Hardcore Carnivore.
